Why we're bringing RouteVN Creator to mobile
We first released RouteVN Creator on desktop assuming that was where people made visual novels.
But when we quietly started the mobile beta, the interest and enthusiasm surprised us. We now think the number of mobile users may well surpass desktop users.
There are many people who want to make visual novels on their phones, but they've historically had limited tools to choose from.
Seeing people even draw art and illustrations with their fingers on a phone has been especially inspiring. What people can create on these devices goes far beyond what we'd imagined.
We're excited to contribute to this space and help people around the world create visual novels with the devices they already have.
Create on your phone or tablet
The mobile app brings all the features of RouteVN Creator Desktop to your phone or tablet, with an interface adapted for touch. You can create your visual novel wherever you are, with the same tools available on desktop.
Available on Android phones and tablets, iPhone, and iPad. Just like the desktop version, it's free and open source, and works offline.
More room to create on tablets
On Android tablets and iPad, you get all the features of RouteVN Creator Desktop with more screen space to work on your visual novel. The interface adapts its layout when you rotate your tablet: the scene preview sits beside your script in landscape and above it in portrait.
Move projects between devices
RouteVN Creator uses the same project data format on desktop and mobile. Projects exported from desktop can be imported on a phone or tablet, and projects exported from mobile can be imported on desktop or another mobile device.
There is currently no real-time sync between devices. Moving a project or transferring its latest changes requires a manual export and import.
